ARDIN BROGAN

name... Ardin Brogan, known as "Ardie" by those she grew up with
age / dob... 23 / September 1st 1984
race... were-cougar
Gender... female
Date of Turning... May 8th, 2001

How we behave toward cats here below determines our status in heaven.
-- Robert Heilein

birthplace... Suburb outside L.A.
current residence... Old Town Towers B5
occupation...No formal job. Mostly pick pocketing, and identity theft. If times are tight she has been known to run a few special deliveries for people.

“Cats always know whether people like or dislike them. They do not always care enough to do anything about it.”
-- Winifred Carriere

first impression... Distant, cold. Once you get to know her, she opens up and can be really sarcastic
personality... If you meet Ardin on a good day, you’ll find she is a genuinely good person. If it’s not out of her way to do so, she’ll lend a helping hand every now and then. She makes friends very easily and is loyal to a fault once her trust is gained, although that’s not always an easy thing to do. Ardin is very assertive and sometimes even manipulative when you have something she needs. Fun seeking at the expense of reality, Ardin is a risk taker and unpredictable. Fun is her top priority (next to eating, drinking and sleeping) since early in she didn’t always have that opportunity. In her friends, Ardin likes someone who can match her sarcasm and wit, but not necessarily a bundle of energy. She’s also extremely independent and anti-authority, not liking to be held down and prefers to do what she wants when she wants to.

On a bad day, two things can happen. If she feels repressed or she knows it’s not her fault the claws will come out and she will go down fighting (which doesn’t happen often, she’s street smart and can hold her own). However, if Ardin knows it’s her fault, chances are she’ll be stubborn and avoid you until she can get the balls to apologize, and she will apologize even if it’s muttered under her breath in between a coughing fit.

Ardin, despite making friends easily, will not go out of her way to help you. She sees needing help as a form of weakness to her proud nature. That being said, while she recognizes the needs and emotions of others she doesn’t particularly care unless you’ve one a spot close to her heart or can relate to any of her own struggles. Of course, with her pride, comes confidence and she likes to think – grace as well.

strenghts... Street-wise, Intelligent, Trustworthy, Loyal, Manipulative, Strong-willed, Persistant Race Strengths: Ability to turn into a small, pitch black domestic feline upon a full moon, longer life-span than humans, stronger and more agile during the full moon
weaknesses... Pride, Stubbornness, Emotionally detached (unless she really likes you), overly assertive, Race Weaknesses : aversion to silver, hurts, leaves scars and is much harder to heal, decapitation, spine trauma, severe head trauma and damage to the heart
phobias... Losing loved ones, small spaces for prolonged periods of time, doesn't really like dogs either

“If you are worthy of its affection, a cat will be your friend but never your slave.”
-- Theophile Gautier

mother... Minna Brogan (unknown if alive)
father... Arthur Brogan (unknown if alive)
siblings... None
marital status...Single
orientation...Heterosexual
ons... confidence, bravery,independence
offs... cowardice, needy, stubbornness

“By associating with the cat one only risks becoming richer”
-- Sidonie Gabrielle

height... 5’10”
weight... 140lbs
hair... A light golden brown
eyes... blueish green
appearance... Ardin has a toned body with medium framed shoulders. She wished her arms were bigger, but you can't get everything you want. Long legs and decent hips are something she's glad she's got. Her skin is bronzed just as her eyes are striking. A slender nose and full lips sit on a well structured oval shaped head.
markings...A few freckles dot her nose if she’s been in the sun for a couple days, some scars on her ankles from childhood

“In the middle of a world that had always been a bit mad, the cat walks with confidence.”
-- Rose F. Kennedy

background... Ardin had always been a "smart" girl. However, the word smart had taken on many connotations in her life. Don't be so smart with me young lady her father would say when he was frustrated, gnashing his teeth. Her mother often used too smart for her own good in that sing-song voice of hers. Now though, many moons later, street-smart would be what any cynical, jaded, dumb fuck would call her.

She came from a happy home. Sixteen years of ignorant bliss in a Los Angeles suburb, to prepare her for a life of debauchery and theft in Seattle. Depending on what mood Ardin was in, she recalled on those beginnings with fondness. It was a quiet and normal life. Her mother and her father owned their own private law firm, saving people not unlike what she was to become, from the prison cells they most likely belonged in. Were their clients innocent or guilty? A better question was, Can they afford me?

Their house was big, had many windows, a swimming pool and it seemed like the sun was shining just for the Brogan family. Her father was strict, and her mother just went along for the ride. Her mother's favorite words seemed to be "Listen to your father, Ardin" and every time Ardin asked her a question it was "What did your father say Ardin?" To Ardin, this wasn't weird, it was they way things were. Men were to be obeyed, to be listened to. Not to be questioned.

Ardin's world views, concept of morality and any sense of ethic had crashed one fateful week in May. Her parents were dealing with a hefty case at the law firm. People were calling the house at late hours, bags were being dropped off, and for the first time in her life - Ardin saw her mother begin to second guess her father. Something was amiss. Something was not right.

Near the end of the week, Ardin came home from school early instead of going to the coffee shop with her friends like almost every other day. Almost a month ago, during a full moon, Ardin and her family spent a weekend hiking in some valley she couldn't remember the name of. She had gone for a walk during the night when she was attacked by a cougar. Her parents, not too far away, had heard her scream and with a shotgun, her father managed to scare the cougar off. She didn't remember much about it but the doctor had said she was lucky to be alive, sustaining a minor bite to her leg and a few deep wounds. But now was feeling weird, like she needed to escape, like she was ready to jump out of her skin. It just so happened that it was to be a full moon that night, one month from the cougar incident.

But that wasn't the only thing that was going to happen. Her parents didn't come home by the time Ardin was ready to go to bed. She didn't think anything of it though, it wasn't uncommon for them to stay really late. And with the way this week had been going, they were liable to never come out of their office. Just as she was about to close her eyes, she heard the key turn in the lock, methodically turning the latch just like she heard many times before. Her mother's dulcet laughter echoed in the high ceilings, and her father's gruff reciprocation seemed to vibrate down the walls. But that wasn't all she heard. Before the lock was turned behind them, sealing them safely in the house, Ardin heard the door's window break, a brief and shrill scream....and then silence.

She tried to move. To run. Anything. But she couldn't. Ardin's bones hurt so much she could barely concentrate. Her mind seemed to break and all she felt was anger and a need for revenge as she tumbled down the stairs to find her parents missing. Her bones continued to hurt, and she let out an agonizing scream as they seemed to dislocate and gorw all at the same time.

A quick look in the broken glass beneath her padded feet would reveal a reflection not unlike the animal that bit her earlier in the week.

All night she ran and ate, and ran some more. When she woke up, naked and curled on the porch of an acreage in the middle of nowhere, she barely had any recollection of what had happened. Fortunately for her, the man inside the run down shack had seen this before. If Ardin believed in God, she'd say an angel was smiling on her when he took her in an explained to her what was happening.

A few weeks of distrust and surprise led Ardin astray. Eventually, she found the man's acreage again, and listened to him. It had already been confirmed that her parents were kidnapped, or worse, dead. Now all that was left to do was to survive what she had become.

The man didn't tolerate a mourning period for Ardin and the loss of her parents. Instead, he instilled a hardened cynicism and wariness in her that quickly became as much a part of her as did her shifting during the full moon. She never asked him questions, and quickly accepted that he was the voice of reason in her head and the only thing keeping her grounded. So far, nothing he said had led her wrong. He taught her how to survive outside a human world, told her that there were others like her, and even taught her a few tricks that her parents would certainly disapprove of.

Ardin become good at this new trade, so good that she had never been caught. Or, rather, been caught in a mess she couldn't talk her way out of. A few years down the road, Ardin gained considerable control while she shifted and enough sense to stay away from people when she did so. From her theft, she even racked up a hefty savings (okay so Mary Handing had a few dollars in the bank, but as far as anyone was concered, Ardin and Mary Handing were one in the same. For this week anyway) that allowed her to flee the much hated Los Angeles area she currently occupied.

Her mentor had mentioned something about 'Old Town Towers', 'Seattle' and 'Supernatural Hub' so that's where Ardin headed. In fact, she made it there in one piece. All that was left to complete her journey was to move her minimal luggage up to the fifth floor and find room B5.
